Spacious modern four-bedroomed apartment on the shore of Lake Como with large terrace, sleeps 8, fantastic views.
Location
The apartment is on the lake shore and in the village of Argegno. Guests particularly love the fact that the apartment is both directly on the water and less than a two-minute walk from the town centre. Argegno has several excellent restaurants, ranging from classic trattorias and pizzerias to really innovative and modern menus at Piazzetta restaurant. There are, of course, several great cafes for your morning capuccino, one of the best ice cream shops on the lake (Zoe's in the piazza), as well as several bars and an enoteca. There are also two small grocery stores and a small market on Mondays. For a more serious shop, there are excellent local supermarkets in Lenno and Como.
Unlike smaller towns, Argegno is very well-served by the Lake Como ferries. The ferry terminal is a two-minute walk from the apartment, and there is a regular service to the Lake's many beauty spots including Belaggio, Menaggio and Villa Carlotta and other cultural destinations. There is a regular bus service from Como to Argegno and beyond.
Day trips to Milan, Verona, Bergamo or on the Bernina Express can all be enjoyed from your base at Le Vele.
Lake Como is an all-year-round destination. Swimming, tennis, golf and sightseeing make it an eternally popular summer destination, and there is wonderful walking in the spring and autumn (with maps and guidebooks available in the apartment). Skiing in the Italian and Swiss Alps is easily accessible: Madesimo, St Moritz and the Sondrio valley are all within a couple of hours' drive.
It is very easy to reach the property without a car. From Milan Malpensa you take the train to Como Lago, changing at Saronno, then the ferry or a C10 bus from Como. However, most of our guests will hire a car, and the journey from Milan Malpensa (the closest airport) takes about an hour. You can also fly into Milan Linate or Bergamo, and the journey takes about twenty minutes longer.
